On July 19th this year, the new and as yet unidentified owner of the domain www.onlinecasino.dk paid a purchase price of $580 000. This is according to a Business Wire report.
The Business Wire report points out that this values the domain at around 10% of the most expensive gambling url, which is currently held by Slots.com which was bought earlier this year by Bodog Antigua for a reported $5.85 million. Bodog claimed, at the time that the acquisition price paid for Slots.com was the biggest sum of money paid out for a url name in 2010, and is amongst the top ten amounts ever paid for an online domain name.
The report identifies the purchaser simply as “an online gaming company based in Malta” and informs that the new owner has plans for future development of the site.
WhoIs IP lookups disclose little more than the fact that the onlinecasino.dk domain was registered in August 1999, with registration ending in 2013, and that the IP is to be found in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The website is a Danish online information portal and gambling casino guide, that promotes several big industry named operations with Alexa statistics showing up to 3,512,704 visitors each month, supporting Business Wire’s boast that it is the top generic domain name in the Nordic country.
